ABSTRACT

Polysaccharide is a recognized immunomodulator that has been shown to have inhibitory effects on a variety of cancer cells and has the potential to be developed as an anti-cancer drug. Pancreatic cancer, one of the cancers with the highest mortality rate, is treated with long-term chemotherapeutic drugs and is prone to a variety of side effects such as immune deficiency, fatigue, and neurological lesions. The polysaccharide anti-pancreatic cancer research landscape both domestically and internationally is summarized in this publication. By regulating nuclear factor-κB, Hippo-Yes-associated protein, integrin and other signaling pathways, polysaccharide components play an anti-pancreatic cancer role by multi-target ways, such as inducing apoptosis and autophagy, inhibiting proliferation, migration and invasion of cancer cells, and regulating the cancer cell cycle.

ABSTRACT

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome differentiation and treatment has a characteristic and advantageous efficacy in the prevention and treatment of major diseases(no matter for new or sudden infectious diseases or major chronic diseases). At present, the clinical application by Western medicine disease's name, stage, classification and other indications limits the role of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, and makes TCM difficult to play its advantages. Therefore, the therapeutic value and social value attribute of Chinese patent medicine after being launched in the market cannot be effectively demonstrated, or even generalized as adjuvants. Under the circumstances, it is difficult to put forward precise positioning different from chemical drugs, with fewer high-level and high-quality evidence-based evidences for precise positioning. The research on the pathological links and therapeutic mechanism of its effect on diseases is also less systematic. The development of biotechnology, such as genomics, has brought medicine into the era of precision, providing ideas and technical support for the exploration of syndrome biomarkers and the analysis of therapeutic mechanism with them as parameters. Digital China Think Tank Forum once mentioned that the development of sequencing technology provides 100% of human genetic code, while only 3% can understand it. Block data 4.0: activation data in the era of artificial intelligence puts forward the concept of activation data, which can be regarded as a theoretical hypothesis for big data, provides a new cognitive thinking and solution for increasingly prominent data paradox between bioinformation explosion and clinical big data, and is a bridge between cross-border data association and fusion. After deeply mining the dominant and recessive value of clinical data and histological data, we can make the pathogenesis of syndrome differentiation and treatment from dark knowledge to clear knowledge. Therefore, with Chinese patent medicine as the guide, the research on the efficacy and mechanism of precise positioning of traditional Chinese medicine after marketing is carried out, and the precise system of "syndrome, disease, function, pathological link and biological connotation" is constructed, which provides a powerful basis and support for increasing the scientific and technological content of varieties.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To study the effects and mechanism of couplet medicines of Scutellaria baicalensis-Paeonia lactiflora on improving ulcerative colitis (UC) in mice. METHODS: A total of 70 mice were randomly divided into blank group, model group, S. baicalensis group (1. 5 g/kg), P. lactiflora group (1. 5 g/kg), S. baicalensis-P. lactiflora (2:1, 1:1, 1:2, m/m) groups (total amount of 1. 5 g/kg), with 10 mice in each group. Except for blank group, UC model of mice was induced in each group. The next day after modeling, treatment groups were given relevant medicine liquid 0. 2 mL/10 g (75 mg/mL, calculated by crude drug mass concentration), while blank group and model group were given constant volume of normal saline intragastrically, once a day, for consecutive 7 d. After administration, disease activity indexes (DAI) of rats were scored, and the serum levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, D-LA and myeloperoxidase (DAO) were determined. The length of the colon was measured and the intestinal mass index was calculated in mice. The activities of medullary peroxide (MPO) and SOD, the levels of NO and MDA were determined in colon tissue. RESULTS: Compared with blank group, DAI score, serum levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, D-LA and DAO, the levels of MPO, NO and MDA in colon were increased significantly in model group, while the length of colon, intestinal mass index and SOD level of colon tissue were decreased significantly, with statistical significance (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Compared with model group, DAI score, serum levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and DAO, the level of MDA in colon were decreased significantly in S. baicalensis group (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). The serum levels of TNF-α and IL-1β, the level of MDA in colon were decreased significantly in P. lactiflora group (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Above indexes of S. baicalensis-P. lactiflora (2:1) group were improved significantly except for the length of colon (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Above indexes of S. baicalensis-P. lactiflora (1:1) group were improved significantly except for serum level of IL-6 and the level of SOD in colon (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Above indexes of S. baicalensis-P. lactiflora (1:2) group were improved significantly except for serum level of NO (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). CONCLUSIONS: The couplet medicines of S. baicalensis-P. lactiflora can reduce the expression of proinflammatory factors, enhancing antioxidant activity of the body and decrease intestinal mucosal permeability so as to improve UC symptom of mice; and the effect of S. baicalensis-P. lactiflora (2:1) group is the best.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, with the rapid development of economy and the improvement of people.s lifestyle and level, the incidence of diabetes has been sharply rising. According to the epidemiological survey, 60-75% of diabetic patients are accompanied by depressive symptoms, and even 10-35% of them are severely depressed, and the risk of diabetes in depressed patients is twice that of normal people. Diabetes mellitus with depression (DD) seriously affects the quality of patients. life, which has attracted more and more attention. At present, the drugs to treat DD are mainly chemical drugs.Due to the single target, strong drug dependence and obvious side effects, etc., it is a tough problem to be solved urgently in clinical practice to find a treatment drug with multiple targets, low toxicity and little side effects. The research group found that the invigorating qi and nourishing blood formula Danggui-BuxueDecoction (DBD) has a relatively exact effect on DD.

ABSTRACT

Investigating the influence of acupuncture on cellular signal transduction is an efficient pathway to reveal the action mechanism of acupuncture on spinal cord injury (SCI). In this study, the experiment research literature regarding acupuncture for SCI during past 10 years was reviewed and analyzed. As a result, it was found that acupuncture could regulate the expression of the first intercellular messenger as well as the second signal molecules including cyclic adenosine monophosphate, cyclic guanosine monophosphate, Ca2+, nitric oxide to intervene the apoptotic signaling pathway, Rho/Rock signaling pathway, Wnt signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, Notch signaling pathway, etc., which could improve regeneration and repair of SCI. In conclusion, in future researches more attention should be paid to the cellular signal transduction networks and different effects among various acupoint combinations and acupuncture modalities on cellular signal transduction, which have an essential role for revelation of clinical application rules and optimization of clinical treatment protocol.

ABSTRACT

This paper aims to review the research status of the effect mechanism of catgut-embedding therapy. The literature was retrieved from China Academic Journal Network Publishing Database with the keywords as "catgut-point embedding" "embedding", dated from the database establishment to December 2015. Totally, over 5 000 papers had been collected. It was summarized that TCM effect mechanism of catgut-point embedding therapy includes the effects of needle retaining and embedding, harmonizingand, balancingorgans, promoting meridian, regulatingand blood, tonifying for the deficiency and reducing for the excess, strengthening the antipathogenicand eliminating pathogens. From the point of view of western medicine, the effect mechanism of catgut-embedding therapy refers to recovering nerve function, regulating neural reflex, increasing human immunity, improving local circulation, inhibiting the release of inflammatory factors, reducing apoptosis, regulating cellular factor and improving body metabolism. It was found that the effects of catgut-embedding therapy were not only related to the effects induced by common acupuncture, but also to the persistent treatment through prolonged stimulation duration, especially in the treatment of chronic diseases with many systems involved. This therapy reduces or complements to the use of western medicine to certain extent. However, the longitude theoretic study on the catgut-embedding therapy is limited; the specific statement is less predominant and the clinical controlled trial is insufficient at present. Hence, further studies are requested.
